lake placid part 1

Last weekend, when the whole world turned to London for the start of the 2012 Olympic Games, Jon and I joined my family on their annual trip to Lake Placid, N.Y.,--the small Adirondack town where the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games were held. Each year, Lorraine competes in the annual Ice Dance Championships in the old Olympic Center. You can also check out the speed skating oval, the ski jump (120 meters high!), and Olympic Sports Complex, where the luge, skeleton, and bobsled events took place.

While Lorraine waltzed and twizzled on the ice, my brothers and Jon took to the greens at the Lake Placid Lodge.
And because we are a family that can never seem to sit still, golf was followed by some cut-throat putt-putt at Pirate's Cove, bowling at Bowl Winkles, and some fantasy bobsledding outside Zig Zags Pub (possibly fueled by some Beer Olympics at Lake Placid Brewery).
Check out more of my Lake Placid photos at The Atlantic Cities.
